Introduction to Grid Computing

When:
Thursday, June 16, 2005 - 7:00pm
Lecturer(s):
Barry Nusbaum of IBM

This presentation will cover Grid technologies. Barry will discuss the lifecycle of a Grid enablement in the IBM Innovation Center from the time we engage with an ISV after they express their interest, through the setup of a Grid infrastructure for that ISV, and close with actual enablement-type technical details. The focus of this presentation will be where we have been going from a technology perspective in the past couple of years in the IBM Innovation Center, both from an open standards perspective as well as working with some of our IBM Grid infrastructure partners. The future direction of our Grid enablements will also be discussed. This will include both Virtualization technologies as well as a high-level view of some of the Grid functionality that will be available in WebSphere XD later this year. These views will be more from an underlying infrastructure (what does it take to get there and how we build it) perspective, rather than from a programming one.
