email notification of gbc/acm events

We are making available a self-administered email list (via LISTSERV) to allow you to get email notifications of upcoming gbc/acm events and related information that may be of interest. If you wish to receive this information, please follow the directions below: Send a message FROM the address at which you want to receive your announcements. If the From line of your outgoing message will include your E-Mail address PLUS at least two (space-separated) components of your real name (for example, John Doe ), then you can just send the message to "GBC-ACM-SUBSCRIBE-REQUEST@LISTSERV.MIT.EDU". Both the Subject line and body of this message are irrelevant. If you can't make the From line of your outgoing message include at least two (space-separated) components of your real name (apart from what is included in the actual address), then you must send your message to "LISTSERV@LISTSERV.MIT.EDU" with the following three lines in the body of the message: // JOB ECHO=NO SUBSCRIBE GBC-ACM Your Real Name // EOJ Note: Don't use the literal text "Your Real Name". Replace the phrase "Your Real Name" with your full name in the same order and with the same punctuation that you would normally use and without any quotation marks or other delimiters. For example: SUBSCRIBE GBC-ACM John F. Smith When using this form of subscription request, the three characters slash, slash, space must appear in columns 1-3 of the first and third lines, as shown above. After the system receives your request for a subscription, it will send you a "Command confirmation request" message with a special code in the Subject line. Reply to the "Command confirmation request" message with a message that has OK on a line by itself, as the FIRST line of your reply. It is necessary that the Subject line of your reply message contain the Subject line (with the special code) from the "Command confirmation request" message you received. The "Reply" command of most mail client software does this automatically.
